I can’t even believe that we’re nearly waving goodbye to another month of 2016 especially when October has been a big one for me.
Firstly, I ran my first ever half marathon (in aid of meningitis, check them out at: Meningitis Now) which was such a huge achievement for me as before this I couldn’t even run ten minutes on a treadmill. Secondly I started back at University for my fourth and final year (studying Business Management and marketing) Thirdly, Palace have had an awesome month in the Premier League table I could squeal (and in fact have… many times – can you blame me?) Fourthly, and to finish the month with a high, we celebrate Joel’s birthday soon which means party party party!
Ok, Ok that is plenty of me! So finally, no month is complete without a roundup of my monthly favourites. This month features a selection of Hair products, beauty products, and home items. You name it it’s in there!
GLAM GLOW WET LIP
I have forever been someone to suffer with dry cracking lips, and, despite finding balms that helped, it meant I had to continuously apply lip balm throughout the day, and to be honest I just can not be bothered with that. I took a trip to LA this summer where I found a lip duo by Glam glow, now if you haven't heard of glam glow before honey I'm gunna give you a 5 min break to go check them out because I am OBSESSED, Here's the link,
Ok you’re back, great, so like I was saying, in this lip duo by glam glow you get both a "lip fizz" and a "wet lip". The idea is that you use the lip fizz first to exfoliate your lips then you go in with the wet lip after. However, if I am totally honest, the "fizz lip" has become a bit of a dust collector for me and it only gets an outing when I am about to wear a dark coloured lip as you want to make sure you don't have any flaky bits coming off before you apply your lip colour to help it last as long as possible. The Wet lip however, is my SAVING GRACE, I apply this product at night just before going to bed and when I wake up it feels as if your lips have been at a spa all night: hydrated, refreshed and gorgeous (I kid you not). I was so impressed with this product, that when I got back I begged my friend who was still in America to purchase me more as I couldn't bare to run even half empty!
Now you might of already guessed it, there is a slight downside to this monthly favourite and that is that the product currently is only available in the USA, which means shipping + tax = nightmare. So team up with a buddy and do a bulk order (that what I always do) as it helps spilt the cost of shipping and taxes. HOWEVER other glam glow products (such as face masks) are available in Space NK and are even coming to boots soon – so watch this space!
OAUI HAIR MASK
So for a girl who during her 22 years of life has had every hair colour under the sun, the condition of my hair is something I take pretty seriously (if only I did when I was 16… never mind, moving on). Whenever I am in space NK I ask for samples of any hair treatments they have, just to try out new things and to see what does and doesn’t work on my hair. So another product I picked up whilst in LA (but is available in the UK) was the OAUI hair mask. It comes with 8 sachets in a box (so if you don't want to risk getting it, spilt the cost with your friends so you can all try it) and is simple to use, just apply evening through the hair using your fingers if needed, then leave it in for 10 minutes and rinse out. For an ultra-deep treatment sleep in the product over night or, one of my top tips; if you’re going to the gym (either to work out or bum around in the sauna like me) add the treatment to your hair before you leave, the heat will help the mask penetrate (I know that word is horrendous) your hair. The key benefits of using OAUI hair mask:
Repairs damaged hair
Increases resistance to future damage
Mends spilt ends
TIGI BED HEAD DUMB BLONDE
If like me you are currently fighting the brassiness of your hair, TIGI bedhead Dumb blonde is the shampoo for you. For years I have wanted a cool blonde tone, but was not at all educated on the use of toner shampoos, in fact, I didn't even know they existed, I thought it was only possible through certain colour highlights. This to some extend is true, you need to have certain blondes in your hair to achieve cool tones (sand, light ash blonde), however you also need a good toner to KEEP the cool tones in your hair, if naturally this isn’t what your hair does. Introducing TIGI bedhead dumb blonde, I use this shampoo every time I wash my hair and I have been so impressed with how long the cool tone have lasted in my hair this time. Not only that but I have found you a great deal on the product so you don't have to break the bank to try it! (click the image for the link)
BECCA COSMETICS X JACLYN HILL
So since I was introduced to Space NK about 4 years ago, one of my ride or die brand has been Becca cosmetics, so when they teamed up with my absolute queen Jaclyn Hill I was online preordering the range as soon as it was announced. Becca are known for bringing beautiful highly pigmented powder blush and bronzers (as well as foundations, eye shadows etc.), and Jaclyn well she is known for some kick butt high lighter (Champagne POP) so when Becca announced the spilt pans combining my favourite blush (flower child) with Jaclyn's highlighter (champagne pop) I was all over it. This product is the perfect size to fit in your day and evening bag and doubles up usefulness as it also comes with a compact mirror therefore 3 in 1 = WIN. The reason I love the blush colour "wild child" so much is because I think it is the perfect blush as it is such a versatile colour. Warm enough for your face for summer but not to dark you can't wear it in winter. It is such a soft pretty shade of pink. I have used wild child on a number of the friends and the colour just seems to suit so many different skin types.
AMBER CANDLE - DIPTYQUE
I am such huge lover of scented candles, I honestly believe its one of those things were you can never have enough. For years I have bought and trialled so many different smells and I have to say I definitely have my favourites. For autumn/winter time I love amber and sandalwood smells I find them mysterious, harmonising and completely captivating. Not only do I love the smell of this particular candle by Diptyque but also it lasts and burns so well. The other evening Joel and I went to bed and didn't realise the candle was still burning (do not try this at home!!) when we woke up the candle had hardly burnt down and the lounge smelt amazing. According to Space NK these candles (190g) can burn for up to 60 hours.
If you love scented candles just as much as me but you haven't yet tried the diptyque range you must, I know £42 seemed extortionate for a candle, but when you break it down to cost per hours you get it is extremely competitive. If you are unsure you need such a big candle diptyque also sell they candles in smaller 70g versions, so you can try before you fully invest.
So there it is, my October favourites all laid out for ya, I would love to hear what your October favourites are! Comment below and let me know! Also if you want to shop any of this blog click on the images and they will take you to just the spot.
