As some of you may or may not have seen from my Instagram, Joel and I recently got back from an AMAZING four days in Amsterdam. Amsterdam has forever been on my list of places to visit so when Joel mentioned he had an international break coming up that was my first thought of how to spend it. During our time in Amsterdam we explored the city, tasted some amazing food and of drank some great coffee. Keep your eyes peeled because, in the next few days you will see more blog posts about our time in Amsterdam including: Some of the best food spots and places to go. But for now.....COFFEE
Since marrying Joel, coffee has all of a sudden become a substantial part of my life. Before being married I assumed a 'note' was something I used to subtly pass to my friend's at school whilst the teacher wasn’t looking, by no means did I know notes were a way to describe coffee. "Chocolate notes, fruity notes" who knew! Joel loves Coffee, I honestly think if he could live off coffee for the rest of his life he happily would, as for me I like what he describes as "hot milk with a splash of coffee" (Aka sweet hot milk). So when we decided last minute to go to Amsterdam Joel was immediately researching the best coffee shops to visit, and (of course) he discovered a list of the top 25 in Amsterdam. During our time there we managed to find a few of the coffee shops on the list, below is a list of the ones we LOVED with a short (but sweet) break down of their best bits, downsides as well as all the information you need if you wanted to visit the coffee shops yourself.
We learnt very quickly that a "coffee shop" in Amsterdam is a place where you can go to smoke cannabis, where as a "café" is a traditional English coffee shop. Be sure to get this right when asking for directions etc. Unless you're happy to stroll into an Amsterdam "coffee shop", No judgement here.
